number of trustees from not less than five nor more than fifteen and to specify
that candidates for the office of trustee shall be nominated by petition and
elected by the legal voters of the Olean City School District in accordance with

its programs and otherwise demonstrate that it can meet the requirements for an

AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF
ROCKLAND COUNTY

A provisional charter was granted to this
corporation by action of the Board of Regents on April 28, 1995. The Society has been dormant since
January 1998 fewer than five members of the last known board of trustees
survives as such so that the trustees have been unable to hold elections or
transact business. The following individuals have petitioned the Board of
Regents for appointment to the trustee positions of the corporation for the
purpose of reviving the charter: Rev. Angela Boatright, Laurence W. Holland,
Wylene Branton Wood, Wayne Bartow, Willie Trotman, Collette Fournier and Sabrina E. Vargas. The Office of Cultural Education
recommends that the Board of Regents appoint the aforementioned petitioners as
new trustees of the corporation and revive the provisional charter. It is further recommended that the
provisional charter be extended for a period of five years to allow the
corporation additional time to expand its membership and financial support,
begin gathering a collection, seek a suitable facility for exhibits and
collections storage, develop suitable forms and procedures for collections and

a provisional charter under the corporate name “Hampton Day School” on February
27, 1970. Such provisional charter
was extended by Regents action on May 24, 1974 and amended and made absolute on
January 25, 1978. Such absolute
charter was amended by Regents action on July 17, 1998, September 17, 1999 and
on September 12, 2003 to change the corporate name to the “Morriss Center
School.” The Ross School will
assume all the assets, liabilities and responsibilities of both organizations.
The consolidated corporation will operate under the absolute charter granted to
