The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to change the corporate address to 7 Park Avenue, #19D, New York, New York 10016.  The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on December 19, 1901 to operate an association library.  Such provisional charter  was made absolute by Regents action on June 28, 1906.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to define the service area to be the Town of Bolton, to designate the Commissioner of Education as agent of the corporation upon whom process in any action or proceeding against it may be served, and to add the language necessary to maintain tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3).  The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

An absolute charter in the first instance was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on December 13, 1906 to operate a public library.  Such absolute charter was amended by Regents action on January 26, 1972 and March 11, 1997.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to change the number of trustees from not less than five nor more than fifteen and to specify that candidates for the office of trustee shall be nominated by petition and elected by the legal voters of the Olean City School District in accordance with the Education Law; to designate the Commissioner of Education as agent of the corporation upon whom process in any action or proceeding against it may be served, and to add the language necessary to maintain tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3). The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on February 3, 1999 to help the public appreciate the natural resources of the Adirondacks.  Such provisional charter was amended by Regents action on February 8, 2000.  The board of trustees has petitioned for an extension of the provisional charter. The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the provisional charter be extended for a period of five years to allow the corporation additional time to develop its programs and otherwise demonstrate that it can meet the requirements for an absolute charter.

AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF ROCKLAND COUNTY 

 

Ponoma, Rockland County

 

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on April 28, 1995.  The Society has been dormant since January 1998 fewer than five members of the last known board of trustees survives as such so that the trustees have been unable to hold elections or transact business. The following individuals have petitioned the Board of Regents for appointment to the trustee positions of the corporation for the purpose of reviving the charter: Rev. Angela Boatright, Laurence W. Holland, Wylene Branton Wood, Wayne Bartow, Willie Trotman, Collette Fournier and  Sabrina E. Vargas.  The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the Board of Regents appoint the aforementioned petitioners as new trustees of the corporation and revive the provisional charter.  It is further recommended that the provisional charter be extended for a period of five years to allow the corporation additional time to expand its membership and financial support, begin gathering a collection, seek a suitable facility for exhibits and collections storage, develop suitable forms and procedures for collections and otherwise demonstrate that it can meet the requirements for an absolute charter.

The board of trustees of The Ross School and the Morriss Center School have petitioned the Board of Regents, pursuant to Education Law §223, for an order of consolidation.  The Ross School was granted a provisional charter on July 23, 1993.  Such provisional charter was amended and extended by Regents action on September 20, 1996 and made absolute on September 15, 2000.   Morriss Center School was granted a provisional charter under the corporate name “Hampton Day School” on February 27, 1970.  Such provisional charter was extended by Regents action on May 24, 1974 and amended and made absolute on January 25, 1978.  Such absolute charter was amended by Regents action on July 17, 1998, September 17, 1999 and on September 12, 2003 to change the corporate name to the “Morriss Center School.”  The Ross School will assume all the assets, liabilities and responsibilities of both organizations. The consolidated corporation will operate under the absolute charter granted to The Ross School. The Office of Nonpublic School Services recommends that an order of consolidation of The Ross School and Morriss Center School, with the surviving corporation being The Ross School, be granted.
