Issue for Decision
Should the Board of Regents approve the reappointment of Edward McCormick to the Roosevelt Union Free School District Interim Board of Education position that expires on June 30, 2006?
Required by State statute.
Proposed Handling
The question will come before the full Board of Regents on June 20, 2006 for action.

Background Information
Under Chapter 33 of the Laws of
2002, the Board of Regents is responsible for appointing members to the Interim
Board of Education of the
Board members are appointed (and
may be reappointed) for terms ranging from one to five years “so that an equal
number of terms expire on June 30 of each year beginning on June 30, 2007”
(Chapter 33, Laws of New York, 2002, Paragraph 2). In May 2007, and for each consecutive
year through 2011, the residents of the

Mr. Edward McCormick’s term on the Board of Education expires June 20, 2006. Therefore, we recommend that he be reappointed to the Board and continue to serve as its President. A copy of Mr. McCormick’s resume is attached.
Recommendation
VOTED: That the Board of Regents approve the reappointment of Mr. Edward McCormick to the Interim Board of Education of the Roosevelt Union Free School District for the term of July 1, 2006 – June 30, 2011; and
VOTED: That the Board of Regents approve the
reappointment of Mr. Edward McCormick as President of the Interim Board of
Education of the
Timetable for Implementation
Mr. McCormick will begin his term on July 1, 2006.
