A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on February 3, 1995 to form a corporation to operate a free public library to serve the residents of the Town of North Collins.  The board of trustees has applied for an absolute charter.  The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the provisional charter be made absolute.

BETHLEHEM PUBLIC LIBRARY

 

Delmar, Albany County

 

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on July 2, 1913 under the corporate name “Delmar Free Library.” Such provisional charter was made absolute by Regents action on November 5, 1917 and amended by Regents action on September 10, 1931 to change the corporate name to “Delmar Public Library of Central School District #6.”  Such absolute charter was further amended by Regents action on November 22, 1968 to change the corporate name to “Bethlehem Public Library” and was last amended on December 16, 1994.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to designate the Commissioner of Education as agent of the corporation upon whom process in any action or proceeding against it may be served and to add the language necessary to maintain tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3). The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

An absolute charter in the first instance was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on January 1, 1921.  Such absolute charter was amended by Regents action on June 19, 1980.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to designate the Commissioner of Education as agent of the corporation upon whom process in any action or proceeding against it may be served and to add the language necessary to maintain tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3). The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on March 1, 1897.  Such provisional charter was made absolute by Regents action on July 12, 1902.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to increase the maximum number of trustees from five to seven, to add the language necessary to maintain tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3) and to designate the Commissioner of Education as the agent of the corporation for the purpose of service of process.  The Office of Cultural Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

BINEINU CHILD CENTER

 

Brooklyn, Kings County

 

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on July 17, 1998 to operate a special education itinerant service for children with disabilities.   Such provisional charter was extended by Regents action on November 9, 2001 and was made absolute on September 10, 2004.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to change the corporate name to “Bineinu Aim High Children’s Services” and to amend the purposes to authorize the corporation to make arrangements for the provision of multi-disciplinary evaluations by licensed professionals. The Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) has been provided with an opportunity to review this action and the trustees have been advised that the granting of any amendment thereof does not constitute approval for state funding for the programs and services under the jurisdiction of VESID.  The Office of Nonpublic School Services recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

 

Binghamton, Broome County

 

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on June 18, 2002 to form a corporation to plan, coordinate and implement services for children who are disabled developmentally, emotionally, physically, and/or socially from birth on; including but not limited to providing special education programs pursuant to Education Law §4410.  The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the provisional charter to change the school and corporate address to 24 Cherry Street, Johnson City, New York 13790 and to restate the corporate purposes to provide early intervention services, to establish, conduct and operate services for children with disabilities including, but not limited to, evaluations, special classes, special education itinerant services, related services, consultant teaching services, and special classes within integrated settings, and to establish and operate day care centers and provide after-school activities.  The board of trustees further request that the provisional charter, as so amended, be extended. The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) has consented to this action pursuant to §460-a of the Social Services Law.  The Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) has been provided with an opportunity to review this action and the trustees have been advised that the granting of the amendment does not constitute approval for state funding for programs and services under the jurisdiction of VESID.  The Office of Nonpublic School Services recommends that the provisional charter be amended accordingly and, as so amended,  be extended for a period of three years to allow the corporation additional time to develop its programs and otherwise demonstrate that it can meet the requirements for an absolute charter.

MARIST COLLEGE

 

Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County

 

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on September 20, 1946 under the corporate name “Marian College” to provide education on a college level, to the members of the Institute of the Marist Brothers,  through courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).  Such provisional charter was amended by Regents action on December 15, 1950 to restate the corporate purposes, and as so amended, made absolute.  Such absolute charter was amended by Regents action on April 29, 1960 to change the corporate name to “Marist College” and was further amended on March 28, 1969, March 24, 1972, September 30, 1977, May 24, 1979 and September 24, 1982. The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to add authority for the College to confer the degree of Master of Education (M.Ed.) and to restate the charter to include in one document all the authorized degrees the corporation is authorized to confer. The Office of Higher Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.

THE NEW SCHOOL

 

New York City, New York County

 

A provisional charter was granted to this corporation by action of the Board of Regents on June 22, 1934 to operate and maintain a college for higher education under the corporate name “New School for Social Research.”  Such provisional charter was amended and made absolute by Regents action on January 17, 1941.  The absolute charter was further amended on May 19, 1944, February 28, 1947 and September 24, 1976; which corporation was consolidated under such name on June 22, 1984 with Parson School of Design.  The absolute charter was again amended on September 20, 1985, July 28, 1989, September 14, 1990 and July 23, 1993. On September 24, 1993  the corporation was consolidated with Mannes College of Music; the absolute charter was amended by Regents action on February  4, 1997 to change the corporate name to “New School University;” amended June 17, 2003; and amended on June 21, 2005 to change the corporate name to “The New School.”   The board of trustees has applied for an amendment to the absolute charter to increase the maximum number of trustees from 50 to 60.  The Office of Higher Education recommends that the absolute charter be amended accordingly.
