SUMMARY:
The State University of New York Board of
Trustees has petitioned the Regents for authority to confer the Bachelor of
Science (B.S.) degree at SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology at
Cobleskill. Paragraph (f) of
subdivision (2) of Section 355 of the Education Law authorizes the SUNY
Trustees:
To grant all degrees, diplomas and
certificates which heretofore [i.e., July 1, 1948] have been granted or have
been authorized to be granted upon the completion of courses of study in any
state-operated institution which now is or hereafter may be in the state
university, prior to the acquisition of such institution by the state
university, and also such other degrees as the Regents may hereafter
specifically authorize them to grant.
At SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology
at Cobleskill, the Trustees award the Bachelor of Business Administration
(B.B.A.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degrees. The Office of College and University
Evaluation has determined that the proposed program meets the standards for
registration set forth in the Regulations of the Commissioner of
Education.
Recommendation: I recommend that the Regents take the
following action:
VOTED, that the State University of New York Board of Trustees be authorized, effective May 18, 2004, to confer the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree on students successfully completing registered programs at SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill.
