Report of Regents P-12 Education/Professional Practice Joint Meeting Committee to The Board of Regents

Your P-12 Education and Professional Practice Committees held their scheduled joint meeting on October 15, 2018.  All members were present, except for Regents Norwood and Cottrell, who were excused.

MATTERS NOT REQUIRING BOARD ACTION

Vision Health Month [P-12/PPC (D) 1] - The Department is once again highlighting October as School Vision Health Month to raise awareness of the importance of providing students access to vision health care.  The Committee was provided with an update on this year’s activities.  The Department is sponsoring eye clinics for students in Schenectady, Camden, Amsterdam, and Rome. As with last year’s inaugural event, the clinics are a Department partnership with VSP Global, the New York State Optometric Association, and the New York State Society of Opticians.
