Report of Regents Professional Practice Committee to The Board of Regents

Your Professional Practice Committee held its scheduled meeting on June 11, 2018.  All members were present, except Regent Wade S. Norwood who was excused. Chancellor Betty A. Rosa was also present, but did not vote on any case or action.

ACTION ITEMS

Professional Discipline Cases

Your Committee recommends that the reports of the Regents Review Committees, including rulings, findings of fact, determinations as to guilt, and recommendations, by unanimous or majority vote, contained in those reports which have been distributed to you, be accepted in 3 cases.  In addition, your Committee recommends, upon the recommendation of the Committee on the Professions, that 29 consent order applications and 18 surrender applications be granted.

These recommendations are made following the review of 50 cases involving sixteen registered professional nurses, twelve licensed practical nurses, two architects, two certified public accountants, two massage therapists, two physical therapists, two psychologists, one athletic trainer, one certified public accountant professional corporation, one chiropractor, one licensed master social worker, one licensed practical nurse who is also a registered professional nurse, one pharmacy, one podiatrist, one public accountancy partnership, one registered professional nurse who is also a nurse practitioner (Family Health), and one respiratory therapy technician.

Restorations

Your Committee recommends the following:

That the application of Margaret McVey for the restoration of her license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State be denied. [PPC EXS (A) 5]

That the application of Vincent Piccone for the restoration of his license to practice as a Physician in New York State be denied. [PPC EXS (A) 6]

Long-Term Clinical Clerkships [PPC EXS (A) 7]

Your Committee recommends the following: That the applications Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India and Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica be approved to place students in long-term clinical clerkships in New York be approved, in accordance with and subject to the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Long-term Clinical Clerkships

Madam Chancellor and Colleagues: Your Professional Practice Committee recommends, and we move, that the Board of Regents act affirmatively upon each recommendation in the written report of the Committee's deliberations at its meeting on June 11, 2018, copies of which have been distributed to each Regent.

Proposed Amendment to Section 63.9 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Administration of Vaccinations by Pharmacists [PPC (A) 1].

Your Committee discussed the following: proposed amendment to §63.9 of the Commissioner’s regulations relating to administration of vaccinations by pharmacists.

Proposed Addition of §64.9 to the Commissioner’s Regulations Relating to Advanced Home Health Aides [PPC (A) 2].

Your Committee discussed the following: proposed addition of §64.9 to the Commissioner’s regulations relating to advanced home health aides.
