Biography

Patrick A. Mannion was elected by a joint session of the Legislature to the Board of Regents to serve a three-year term representing the Fifth Judicial District, beginning March 2024.

Mr. Mannion’s business experience and service to his community will offer valuable insight to the Board of Regents. His career has spanned multiple leadership roles in business and community service throughout Central New York. He is the current chair of the Crouse Health System and serves on the board of Central Current, a newly formed, not-for-profit digital media publication serving Syracuse and Central New York. 

In March 2020, he retired as vice chair of Columbian Financial Group, an insurance and financial services corporation. He also served as president, chair, and CEO of Unity Mutual Life Insurance in Syracuse until its merger with Columbian. He is the former chair of CenterState CEO and the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority.

Mannion is an active volunteer with several nonprofit and community organizations including his home parish of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, the Syracuse Catholic Diocese Bishop’s Foundation, and the Partnership for Franciscan Ministries. He has worked on behalf of Syracuse University as a devoted alumnus, as a lecturer, and member of the adjunct faculty.  He is a long-time member of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management Advisory Council. As a founding member of the Onondaga Environmental Institute, he is dedicated to clean water in the region and continues to serve on its board of directors.

He is a volunteer of the Fayetteville Fire Department where he is a firefighter, emergency medical technician, lieutenant, and public information officer.

Mr. Mannion has a BA from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Syracuse University. He is a resident of Fayetteville, New York, and is the father of six adult children and grandfather to six grandchildren.
